DARA Europe supports initiatives that strengthen the community in the village of Andong in Cambodia. Everything revolves around tailored solutions for the children of Andong.

Andong is a community near Phnom Penh with a population of around 6,000 people. The neighborhood emerged in 2006 after the forced relocation of approximately 1,000 families. Many residents struggled with unemployment, poor housing and limited access to clean water, food and health care. Floods, pollution and lack of sanitation made daily life difficult. Despite improvements, long-term support remains essential to help break the cycle of poverty.
Our programs

Education
A strong education is the foundation for a better future. Access to preschool classes, homework support, English lessons, computer classes, school enrollment, scholarships and more
Family Support
Support for families to ensure safe and healthy living conditions. Emergency support for families in need, including food assistance and access to (health)care
Coaching
Strengthening the community by creating a resilient and support environment. Through coaching and mentoring for adults and young adults, including support in career development
Community Fund
We invest in local talent and long-term growth. A community fund with interest-free loans that helps families build their own income
Changing the lives of children in Cambodia
Since 2009, our work in Andong has grown from providing shelter for vulnerable children to a powerful community program that changes lives. Together with Stellar, we support education for children and young people, provide coaching for adults and deliver family-centered care. Each week we welcome more than 280 enthusiastic students who actively participate in our educational programs.
Working for and with the community
Stellar’s team in Andong consists of teachers, social workers and professionals from the community itself. Together they form a professional and committed team working towards equity. This approach strengthens local knowledge, provides stable income and creates valuable career opportunities.
