DARA Europe is committed to high quality education for children and young adults in Cambodia. We work together with local talents as much as possible. A win-win: the professionals are well informed about the local situation, and we give them a job in which they can further develop themselves. Teacher Lim Ngim talks about his experiences. <\/strong><\/p> \n \n

Student Lim Ngim supports the educational programs of Stellar Child Care Organization (SCCO) in Andong. DARA Europe enables Lim to earn his own salary with a part-time job, and SCCO provides a scholarship. <\/p> \n \n

Ngim has been studying civil engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia in Phnom Penh since 2020. “I stay in the university dormitory because no family lives nearby. It’s hard to make ends meet as a student. My father is no longer alive and my mother is a housewife, so I have to cover all the expenses – for studying, living, eating, clothing et cetera – by myself.” One of the college teachers puts Lim in touch with SCCO. In 2022, he finds work teaching computer classes, first at SCCO’s community center in Andong and then at the local elementary school Kork Rokar <\/p> \n \n

“It is fantastic to work with the children in Andong through SCCO,” Ngim enthuses. “I am so happy that I can make a difference for the children in the local community. With good education, they get more chances for a good future.” DARA Europe supports SCCO’s educational activities at the local community center as well as the computer classes at the elementary school. <\/p> \n \n

“The working environment is very pleasant: the manager and colleagues are friendly and open,” adds Ngim. “I also learn a lot from the board members of DARA Europe and the international volunteers who regularly work in Andong. This way, I keep developing myself, and I am sincerely grateful for the contribution SCCO makes to the community.” <\/p> \n \n
